Lamalou-les-Bains is a spa town built in the late 19th century with many public buildings of the Belle Epoque and private villas. This activity is a great way to generate a regular income while enjoying life in a warm and sunny part of the Mediterranean.
The Mediterranean coast from Montpellier to Perpignan is flat and sandy. The construction is recent and favours concrete to stone. But go back inland about 30 minutes and you are in the true Mediterranean hinterland: a region of vineyards, olive groves and hills. The villages are small and compact and as the Cevennes approach, there are several spa towns.
Lamalou-les-Bains is not only a renowned treatment centre for rheumatological and neurological problems, but also a base for tourists, hikers and cyclists wishing to explore the wild mountains of the Cevennes, the vineyards and villages of the region.
The spa season runs from February to December, which means that the demand for short-term accommodation is practically all year round.
This turn of the century villa is in the spa town itself but on the upper slopes in a quiet residential area. It has been expanded over the years and now has a one-storey annexe at the back with space for several easy-access apartments to complete the units in the main house. This house has two floors (serviced by elevator) with a mix of two-room apartments and comfortable one room apartments. Some have been adapted for severely disabled people (on the ground floor) and they are all easily accessible.
All 12 rental units are scrupulously maintained and decorated. They are sold fully furnished and equipped: ready to rent. A characteristic for this business is the number of clients that come back year after year for their annual spa treatments and regularly ask for the same apartment.
