How much for a house in the region?

Magalas.
View from Magalas.
Since the end of 2001, the property prices have started to climb. Languedoc is becoming more and more popular and to a certain extent due to the saturation and the very high price level in Provence and Côte d'Azur.

We have noticed an increasing demand from buyers from England, Holland and Scandinavia.
And you can still find nice houses here for a reasonable amount of money.

Some examples:
A village house costs from 100 000 Euros needing restoration, to 200 000 Euros for a small house well modernised and with a terrace - an open sunbathing area on the roof. Something slightly larger would be a Maison de Viticulteur and will start around d 220 000 Euros, or, larger still, a "maison de Maître" from 450 000 upwards. Modern villas start at 200 000 Euros and, depending upon the size of the plot, number of bedrooms etc prices can rise well above the 300 000 Euros mark.

It's interesting to note that land is quite expensive in this area. Every available plot is cultivated, mostly with wine. This explains why a house with a big plot might seem expensive.
